Problem with Pipercross Viper installation

Featured Replies

Hi,

Has anyone here installed Pipercross Viper (VFC277)to Fabia vRS '05?

I just tried, and have a little problem. I suppose the filter should fit over the air flow meter, but mine won't fit. Did they send me too small filter from Pipercross? (check the picture)

Inner diameter of filter is ~72mm and outer diameter of air flow meter is ~80mm, so it just won't stretch enough

I also think that the tube they included to be used as cold air intake can't be installed. There is so little room for it... I'll try it anyway after I manage to attach the filter...

Can anyone help me with it ?

Hope you didnt pay alot for the Viper, useless filter IMHO.

There should be a bit of pipe that goes between the MAF and the filter I think.

And yes there is naff all room to go to the intake at the front which is why closed induction kits dont work all that well on the Fabia.

Does anybody on here run an induction kit on their vRS?

Thanks for quick reply, Lummox.

But I still think filter should fit over the air flow meter, at least the one on the picture on instructionsheet was fitted that way.

If installed that way, there would also be more space for cold air pipe...

So has anyone tried to install Viper ?

Not installed one on a Fabia. Had one on my Astra and it lost me 3 bhp over the std airbox and filter when tested back to back on a rolling road.

Seen a Dynatwist induction kit fitted to Ibiza Sport TDi, think that was binned due to the twisted up inlet pipe which actually reduced air flow.

According to Pipercross website the VFC 277 is for the 100 bhp PD engine. The VFC 294 is for the vRS. Which would make sense as the 130 PD engine has a larger air flow meter.

Nope - not enough cold air around underneath the bonnet so I've gone for the more traditional PD160 air intake + green filter to get that extra airflow.

I'd have one if it made an induction roar, even if it lost me 3 or so bhp, I don't exactly race my car - just drive it... :sigh: I miss the petrol note :( :D

You could always buy the K&N 57i kit, only set you back about 100 notes... :D

Just get the green panel filter and 160 intake instead. :D
