They're not needed or recommended on the 1.8t engine.

I just sit in the car for a couple minutes before setting off or before I get out. Think thats all a timer does in it?

Turbo timers - they're not necessary on the 1.8t.

Turbo timers are a waste of money!

The immobiliser doesn't tend to like them either tbh.
