Help! No brake lights again!

Featured Replies

hi guys, i recently changed the battery then noticed i had no cruise control, after running vcds found the brake switch had intermitent signal fault, got a new switch of ebay which looked different and fitted it still no brake lights! on refitting original switch brake lights are constantly on no matter what!

im now stuck!

You need to buy a genuine VAG switch, £10ish. Very important when fitting a new switch that you turn the switch clockwise until it clicks. A new switch comes in the locked position. If it doesn't click it won't work as the click is it unlocking the mechanism.

Also do not depress the pedal when installing the new one.

And as above get a genuine switch from skoda/vw cost £12

Yeah the revised switches don't require the pedal to be depressed. Switch is fit once so do it properly or you'll be buying another new switch.

ive been pressing the pedal with my hand while fitting the switch. got a few from scrappy but none worked properly. took 3 switches apart and built 1 good switch out of the bits available.all is now working however i have a new switch on order from vw which should arrive tomorrow.

thanks for the advice guys.

As I said these switches are fit once so pulling ones from the scrappy ain't going to work.

Don't forget when you fit the new switch do not press the pedal until the switch is in place & has clicked.
