Any one going to watch this weekend? Live ITV4 Saturday morning.

There are some good drivers in this series so I'll probably give it a go.

In hilarious true electric-car fashion though they haven't got enough juice to last a whole race distance so they have to pitstop half way through and switch cars :D

They should follow the example of Bossfox and his Nissan Leaf weekend trip. Each car should stop at the fast charge point and the driver signs autographs until 80% recharge.

Forgot about it.

Shame they didn't manage to sort out switchable battery packs.

I'll have to read up about this and watch it! Sounds interesting however as Richard said switchable battery packs are needed!

It's reminding me of my comment about about the first "Electric TT" where I observed that McPint on a Senior TT bike would be lapping some of the electrics (yes with a 37.74 mile lap).

The little bits I have read look interesting. It could be competitive and close racing.

The Electric Favorit does not meet the regulations.

I'll be watching. It's still in it's infancy so won't be perfect but that's what appeals to me

I've been watching with interest this morning! Really good start of a Motorsport IMO looking at going to Battersea to watch it in June

Wow! Really enjoyed the first race. The pit stops threw a spanner in the works and I feel that can be a real race decider. Without spoiling it for anyone....

That last lap!!!!!! :-0

I'm watching on time delay but I agree about the pit stops really shaking it up! 2 more laps until the last lap is where I'm at so far!

Last lap was exciting. I missed the start and understand that was good, too!

Watched it this morning, I thought the racing was pretty good!

Interesting how Heidfeld saved his juice to attack until the last lap, I think he could have had the win there...

Also interesting that the cars were able to follow each other closely without losing performance, unlike in F1.

Not keen on the sound trackside, but onboard where you can hear some revs from the motor and gear changes it's not so bad.

Still not keen on that car change mid race, surely they can get the things to last one race distance with time?

Maybe it would be better long term to have all the team share the chassis but develop their own powertrains? I appreciate this would escalate costs but it would also force on the development of electric vehicles and give the engineers a real chance to flex their brain power.

I thought it was good. I too thought the sound track side was rather annoying but on board sounded good.

Driver change is silly. They need to be in the pits for at least 1 minute 47 for some reason too :s

Next year will be the more entertaining as the manufacturers can develop their own cars, this year they are all using a Renault chassis and can't remember where the motor or battery's are from. Think it was Mercedes and mclaren.

That's good to hear, but I would still keep a standard chassis and give freedom on the powertrain. That helps keep costs under control but at the same time focuses on what this championship is really about and that is the powertrains.

Two more things I wanted to add:

- The drivers are arguably as good as or better than half the current F1 grid.

- I question the wisdom of employing Nelson Piquet Jr. on a series concentrated on street circuits ;)

Also interesting that the cars were able to follow each other closely without losing performance, unlike in F1.

Well, given that they're about as fast as current Formula Ford "Ecoboost" cars...

I'm staying out of any rules about "we can't make a car that can do race distance, so we'll mandate a car change, and then mandate a minimum pitstop time too".

Driver change is silly. They need to be in the pits for at least 1 minute 47 for some reason too :S

It's so that they aren't rushed while getting out of one car and into the other, and they have time to strap in safely without any silly risks.

Sensible enough, given that they have to have a car change.

Batteries are from Williams, though I understand they have now sold that bit of the business to GKN.

So how come GTs can do a driver change in 50s, including fitting or removing a seat inert for the second driver, then? And don't claim "safety" because a GT4 car would be lapping these supposedly formula cars about once every 5 laps.
