Help

Please!!!!!!!

Ok, i have a wireless router with ports on the back and a wireless card in my pc, i have the necessary software and hardware on the xbox (i think) and cerberus installed on the pc, ive connected everything up and entered the ip address of the pc into xtoolbox on the xbox however it just comes up unknown host, has anyone linked their xbox in to their wireless network via a wireless router etc etc and can give me assistance

i'd like to achieve the following

use the pc as a server and ftp from xbox to pc etc and

obtain xbox live by using the internet connection connected to the pc (xbox is quite a way from the phone socket so this seems the best solution)

Come on techies this should be easy for some of you.

how are you connecting the xbox to the router? what are you using? I have my xbox set up through my router. If you supply some more info I might be able to help. makes and models of equipment you are using would be good too

Mike I don't know if this helps but I use my Wireless PC upstairs in the spare room and connect the XBOX directly into this so the XBOX uses the PC as a gateway to get a wireless signal.

This may help http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/

its not so much the hardware i have issues with, i know the network is sound, its the xbox software side of things that i think is the issue. I have the xbox connected to the router via a standard rj45 ethernet cable and am running cerebus server on the pc and leaving port 21 open. Now i connected the xbox up but with me being a bit of a numpty cant find the pc to connect to, i get an error of unknown host, My xbox is chipped but is a distance away from the phone socket so wireless is the way!!!, i have a copy of evo* but i dont think its the right one. Its kind of got the better of me for now!!!

The aim was to use the xbox more like a media center or pc with a wireless connection to my other pc.

I take it you are using a cross over RJ45 and not just an ordinary one as that won't work if you plug one end in the xbox and the other into the pc network card.

no, its going in to the router not the pc so no need for the crossover (i think)

Yep that should be ok then. Have you posted on any XBOX Forums ?

Have you opened the port on the router and the pc?

yep port open all good, i havent done much research really, i plowed straight in when i got a working copy of evo* then got wound up threw a tantrum and stopped trying (again). I think your right i need xbox forum advice, i could give in switch rooms and have my xbox near the phone socket but thats a little too easy. I need to recheck everything from the begining etc and give in again a couple more times before the xbox 360 is out and my xbox is a 386!!!

Thanks anway though
