Anyone running Bilstein B4 dampers?

Featured Replies

I'm going to be fitting either eibach or h&r springs. I want to renew the dampers at the same time and read good things about b4 dampers. They don't specifically list b4s for the vrs but the 1.9 tdi is listed.

My budget is around £300 for springs and dampers and I've also considered the ap or vogtland kit but ived used eibachs quite a bit in the past and always like how they drive.

I'm just wondering if the b4 would be ok for the vrs as an upgrade or am i better off sticking with oem dampers?

I can get eibachs for £160 and b4s for £125 for all four.

Thanks!

I'd be interested too. Replaced my shocks and springs with lower mileage OEM ones bearing 18 months ago but they're starting to get a bit crashy.

Fancy the B8s and eibach springs but is too pricy - especially as I've just had a new turbo.

Looked at the B4s and meant to equal OEM spec so am also interested in people's thoughts for the VRS suitability?

I'm running the B8's and can't recommend them enough but never had experience of the B4's, i'm afraid.

If you can stretch your budget or pay monthly from Demon-Tweeks, i'd say get the B8's.

I can highly recommend the AP Shocks and Springs kit! Ride very well.

I'd love th b8s but it's a but I can't justify the cost. It looks like its a between the aps and eibach setup. The vogland kit still has yellow dampers and I just can't being myself to put those on!

No it doesn't dude, I got the vogtland kit fitted a few months ago and its black dampers and purple springs.

Where did you get it from? Dpm said there's are yellow so I assumed they would be. How are you finding them?

Got them from dpm performance, checked part numbers when they appeared and all correct.

For the price, I think they're great. Not too harsh and tidys up the arch gap nicely.

Just looked through your posts looks just right

If you were closer to glasgow I'd let you take it for a spin to see the difference lol.

Am at blackpool for a long weekend with the g/f, dont know if that would be any help.

Running B8s here too on Eibachs. Good all round set up. Just wish it was a tad lower.

Bilstein don't list the B4 dampers for the VRS model so you'd be better off sticking with the OE dampers over the B4.

The only ones listed for the VRS are either the B6 for standard springs or the B8 for aftermarket springs.

Thanks Damien, any chance you could confirm it the vogtland kit can be specified with black dampers?

The last few kits have had yellow dampers so this is something we'd need to request from them when ordering.

How silent is the B8 setup? Going over potholes and bumps? Do you run with stock vRS springs or lowered ones?

Damian, are you sure? Now the catalogue only lists the B8 for the vRS, I plan on keeping the stock vRS springs, and fitting the B8's. I've also contacted Bilstein themselves about this issue, if there will be problems with stock springs+B8.

B6 are not offered (well now at least, in 2014 maybe they were :))

I’ve never had any noise issues since fitting them and i used Eibach springs as i’d seen the Bilstein/Eibach set-up was one of the best to go for.

You won't have any issues running the VRS springs with the Bilstein B8 dampers.

To be fair, I've installed Sachs and the ride is amazing; stable, silent, smooth. No more crashy-trashy ride.

Couldn't really stretch out for B8's, instead I've overhauled many other parts on the car.
