New Rapid Owner

Featured Replies

Just like to sign in to the Rapid section. I've been a member since June '13 but had a Yeti until yesterday Sun 14th. After having a financial review with SWMBO we reluctantly decided to downsize  & chose a Rio Red 14 plate 1.6 DSG model. Being retired now we thought that paying for the upkeep on a the Yeti 2 or 3 years down the line would be too  expensive for us.

Yesterday we had a ride over to Simpsons at Colne to see what was on offer & luckily for us they had just the car we liked, although her ladyship at first said NO red, but when she saw it she was won over. We told them we only wanted an automatic, Fabia or Rapid. The salesman told us that there were no brand new ones of either type in the country at this time, but they had a 6 month old Rapid there.

We gave it a quick spin up the road (hardly any fuel in it  as usual) & decided that it was the car for us. The deal clincher for us is the £30 road fund licence. We hope to have it this weekend. I'll let you know when we get it.

Highly recomens Simpson Skoda at Colne although in truth I did get my rapid from Motorpoint in Burnley however Simpson Skoda have always been fantastic with any minor problems I have had with it.   One thing I do recomend is to ask if the rear doors filling up with water problem has had the Skoda moifcation done, if not ask them to sort it for you.

Mine came from the factory with the door seals already done :)

Thanks for that Mark, will give them a bell. The Yeti we are trading in we got from them. That's why we went back to them, plus it's a nice ride up the M66 / M65 to get there.

What is different about the current seals fitted at the factory to the original type  :wonder:

Believe my cars lower door seals are pre mod, as they overlap the small slits that's an excuse for drain holes; mind I've not noticed anything obvious to suggest water in the doors as yet.

Before I picked the car up I said I wanted it done and he said mine came from the factory already done. I'll have a look and see what the difference is [emoji106]

Simpsons of Colne have a nice white Spaceback with sports pack on which looks really nice. It's made us want one.

Not keen on the Spaceback myself. It looks too much like a Fabia Estate for me. Picking up my Rapid from Simpsons tomorrow (wed) all being well, looking forward to it.
