At last, a proper iPod interface is available at a decent price!

Alpine now do a head unit (9847R) which is compatible with their iPod interface (KCA420i).

The interface is hidden behind the dash, and allows a fly lead to run to the glovebox, where you connect the iPod. This also charges the iPod. The head unit can then be used to access all iPod albums, artists and playlists, and track names, artist names and album names are displayed on the head unit!

You can search your iPod directly through the head unit controls, and the sound quality is as good as mp3 gets (which is 'ok').
