Skoda newbie here

 

My gearbox has just collapsed on my 2003 Skoda Fabia (Blueline?). I have a 2003 1.4 skoda fabia and was wondering if anyone knows whether they are interchangeable.

 

Also, are skodas known for gearbox issues at all?

I'm thinking of going to ebay if i don't have luck or going to the local salvage. I was hoping it would fit but with a difference gearing ratio :(

looking at ebay m8 1.2 and 1.4 are different most prob the ratios whats your engine code i'll find 1 cheap as poss for u

    Appreciate it a lot. Do you know the engine number off the top of your head so i know what to look for tomorrow, and where abouts is it situated?

    Will check code but it's still fitted to an engine so I'd have to remove it but came off a 1.2 6v Fabia which had an electrical issue and had done 100000 miles roughly

    1.2 engine will be one of the following codes...

     

    AWY

    BMD

    AZQ

    BME

    ah i see, is the code only 3 letters then?

     

    Also, if i know the engine code, will i be able to find out which gearbox exactly will fit my skoda or do i need to go deeper than that?

    Here's a pic of my sticker if it helps you know what you're looking for. My Fabia is a 1.4 but the sticker will be the same. In my case the gearbox is FNK and the engine AQW.
