Nearly New owner

Featured Replies

Been lurking around this forum for a while, but have never said an official hello. So hello.

Nearly an owner of a VRS. Pick up my 55 plate Diamond Silver in standard guise on Friday.

Chopped in my CTR, as petrol costs where steering me to financial ruin :)

Really looking forward to it, test drove one a couple of months ago but never got the chance to get the car above 45mph. But was impressed however with 2nd gear, it seemed to pull really well.

So i know its never going to be as quick as the type R or handle anywhere near as good as it, but what should i expect, am i going to like it :) . One thing i know for certain that i will like, is not visiting shell twice a week. :)

I know there are a few of you's that has moved from scoobs, i also had a WRX. How does in gear acceleration compare with a standard WRX.

Will write a full review next week when i have got a chance to give it a good country run :)

Cheers for now.

Paul :)

Hello Paul !

You might recognise the username, just made the switch from my CTR to a Fabia VRS yesterday

So far its impressive, but just to say if you rev it like a type-r you'll get nowhere, change gear earlier and ride the torque wave, from 2krpm upwards they are seriously nippy!

Matt

Brilliant, awesome. A continual smile on my face. + You should see the shocked look on other drivers faces when you overtake them or they try to lose you !!!

Hi Matt do recognise the username, so you made the switch also. Seems to be a popular move from scoob or CTR to the VRS. There must be something about it then.

Out of interest, you say 2k upwards, when does the power start to tail off, i see it revs to 5k.

Anway i am fairly looking forward to it. :)

Paul

I sometimes rev to 4k... After 4k there is really very little. It tailed off about 3.5k before the PD160 intake and Green filter mind...

Rev Counter may say 5, but in reality it's all over by 3500 to 4000Rpm! Just more noise and no more momentum!

Fit the cupra intake and get a green filter and it will breathe better, Helps reduce smoke too!

D'oh Tom you beat me to it :)

D'oh Tom you beat me to it :)

Atleast we are on the same wavelength...

Reminds me to get a Green cleaning kit, mines been in 6k miles now, bet its hardly green anymore!

Paul,

As the very nice chaps above have said already ;) the power seems to drop off after 4k rpm, seems quite a small power band (like the CTR) but it works well.

Doh! Posted twice :D
