banging noise

Featured Replies

This is probably common but has any experienced a little banging noise when accelerating from a stand still in a vrs. The car is trying to wheel spin and the front end is jumping a bit, is this jsut the exhaust or summat banging? Ive never noticed it before as i usually take time and get it into second before flooring it. Note it was a dry grippy road.

Thanks

To me it sounds like axle tramp, and the DSG and ESP struggling to bring it all under control. Axle tramp can only be cured by upgrading suspension components and/or getting better more grippy tyres.

I get it too. I believe like already mentioned it is to do with the ESP whacking on the brakes to control wheel spin.

That is the XDS/ESP and the reason to switch the TC off.   Try it and then see if you do not get that banging.

It is also cutting power from the engine until traction is recovered.

maybe some better tyres fitted will help, with TC off.

Thanks guys it just sounded horrendous but felt finr afterwards, i ll turn off the TC next i have a spirited blast and see if it makes a difference. Ive got a good set of rubbers on Avons but there is 15k on them now so pretty worn, a new set of boots will defo help.
