Washing after wax

Featured Replies

Hi. After a bit of guidance from ChrisRS (cheers) I gave my superb a bit of a wash today! Wash, clay mit, ironx, polish, glaze and a wax. Anyways. What happens when it needs it's next wash? Ph nutral foam and shampoo only? No mit? Obvs no ironx etc? Finish off with sonax bsd to top up the wax I've put on today? Car looks great btw but nowhere near your standards! No polisher here, just elbow greace!!!

Once a car is waxed, I just avoid the use of hot water as that can affect it.  No problem with snowfoaming / shampoo / using wash mitt.  I even think using iron out isn't an issue as it's really detergent based anyway.

Thanks Devon.

I'm hoping the muck won't stick too much with the wax surface.

The snow foam I have is some AG from halfords, doesn't seem to be PH nutral. Would that be an issue? Don't want to undo my hard work!!

If its protected with the products you describe, it will stay protected for a long time, even using a harsh shampoo will not degrade it much

Just carry on with normal washing with your shampoo and snow foam....light spray of BSD every 3 to 4 washes and it will be OK

Cheers Chris.

As above I often wondered about how or how not to wash my car after waxing it, the truth is I last waxed my car at least three months ago , it usually gets a wash once a week with Autoglym shampoo and conditioner, then buffed/dried down, but no other products, the wax is still beading the rain brilliantly three months later! I must be doing something right
