Resetting Service Display on Maxidot

Featured Replies

I have recently had my 105 TSi serviced.  I guess service reminders are different on the various models over the years.  My Maxidot display showed a count down of mileage and days for both an Oil change and an Inspection Due.  When I took the car to the garage I asked for the Oil change and inspection to be completed as there was only 1800 miles difference.  The garage carried this out but only reset the Oil Change reminder.  The Inspection reminder now shows Inspection Due in 1300 miles.  I have had the garage look at this but they are unable to reset the Inspection Due reminder.  Is this normal and can I anticipate a problem shortly?  What experiences have others had?

Does this ign off, hold in odometer button, ign on, keep holding in odometer button trick work on the mk2??

You should be able to reset it yourself, if you hold down the top button on the end of the wiper stalk (I call it the trip rocker), it'll bring up the menu. Scrol down and go in to settings by pressing the bottom button. There should then be a "service" one to select, and from there it'll give you the option to reset.

Mines going in for its first 10k service next week, but the car is set up for variable servicing whilst I'm on a PCP deal with service plan so I can imagine I'll get a warning at about 18000 for inspection.

If it's the same as the non Maxi dot version, then you reset its service light by holding the 0.0 button for a couple of seconds with the ignition off, then whilst holding the button, turn the ignition on and wait a second or so before letting go of the button, then briefly press the menu button.

There is no Service Reset on my cars Maxidot.  I am now showing 17200 to next Oil change and only 1200 miles to the Inspection which has already been done. I am going to let it show me what happens in 1200 miles time.  The garage mechanic said it would reset itself (I some how doubt but we will see). He also said that the engine has electronic oil quality analysis which determines the oil change mileage.  Is this right or does the computer just work it out from the speed driven and journey length?

Is the car on Variable Service Intervals?

Does the Maxidot not have a choice like this in the Menu.

(I know nothing about ones with a Service Interval, & also a 'To oil change interval')

Thanks for your response to my query.  My car is on Variable Service Intervals.  I have just rechecked my Maxidot display.  I have the same headings as you on the Settings option but when I select Service it only offers me 'Info' or 'Back'.  I'm not sure the garage are totally clear on what they're dealing with and are as confused as me. My main concern is that they have reset the oil display 500 miles since the service, if they attempt it again I will lose more mileage hence my question regarding how clever the electronics are in judging oil quality.  How have others guys dealt with the two options as they arise and have they got discrepancies between the two service requirements shown on the Maxidot?

On Variable / Flexible Servicing for Oil & Filter changes, the Oil should be monitored and the Oil Interval will set shortly.

Or should.

Just check the Invoice for the Oil used, and see that it was Full Synthetic 5w 30 VW504 00.  (Long Life)

How many miles have you done since the Oil change?
