Fixed price service maintenance tyre plan

Featured Replies

Hi folks, my first post, car was built yesterday so hopefully should arrive in a few weeks. Just seen something on the skoda site about a fixed price plan with three levels. 1)Service 2)servicing and maintenance or 3) servicing, maintenance and tyres. Only thing is I can't find any prices?

Has anyone taken this out as if it's reasonable and covers tyres it might be a good thing on my Vrs?

I thought about it... but changed my mind.  The complete SMT package is about £33/month, I think.  In my opinion, I don't think it is worth it - the tyre cover doesn't include replacements due to punctures, and if you go for variable servicing then you're not going to get your money's worth on that either.  You're better off just putting the £30 in a savings account and using that to pay for servicing and tyres (again, in my opinion).  It just doesn't do what I wanted it to do, which was provide true fixed cost motoring.

Hi wiggossideburns, cheers for the reply it's answered my question and I think il go with your idea of just putting £30pm away instead.

Took this out, level 3, on my first Octavia in 2009, but at the end of the 3 years worked out that it had cost me about double what I would have spent on servicing, maintenance and tyres. So, unless they have revised the pricing I wouldn't recommend it. They do individual quotes based on annual mileage etc. So I don't think you'll find a price list.

I've bought a fixed price servicing and maintenance plan direct from the dealer, takes me from end of 30k free servicing deal up to 84k service including, 3 variable services, 1 mot, 1 air con service, 1 brake fluid service, cost me £23 x 30 months, interest free and included 10% discount off current prices. I would not include tyres though, they are approx £140 each for 18", fronts currently still have 3.5mm and rears 6mm and have done 31k so far, reckon the fronts will last at least 40k and the rears may even last over 80k at this rate so may only need two sets on front over 90k of ownership, which averages less than £12/month on tyres over 4 years.

I just set up a standing order for £50 a month to cover car related mishaps. Better I have the money (and pitiful interest) than the dealer. IMO anyway.

I took out the only service plan I was offered (3 months ago) £17 pm, told covers everything except fuel & tyres. Apparently if I need a wiper blade or bulb replaced just call in and they would fit it for free. Not had to test it yet but something says I should have got that in writing.

We were offered three options service only, service plus maintenance and service, maintenance and tyres. Discounted the tyre option as garage reckoned is wasn't worth it with the mileage we do. But we took service plus maintenance, £17.00 per month, suited us so I guess that's what counts. We liked the idea of no big bills and can factor in the costs of tyres, prefer the option of own choices on them, rather than dictated to by a contract.
