falling for a mk1

Featured Replies

As some of you may know already I have mk2 furby and my wife has a mk1.

I picked up my mk2 a while after we bought the mk1 and was impressed by the shape and performance, to which I ended up blinkered into only ever driving the mk2. The last week or so I've treated the missus car to a good clean, service ect. Took it out today to see how it drives and I really couldn't believe how well it handles, being lower set than the mk2 obviously it has the advantage of lcg but everything about it just feels so much more robust! I think I may genuinely be gorging on a mk1 to replace my mk2 Soon! Anyone else experienced similar?

Id like to think so :P , not really the most knowledgeable person when it comes to buying/selling cars but i look after my cars :P

I'm selling mine later this year .....November time..........nice 1.4 16V 100bhp (plus), dark met blue, tan interior, heated seats, elec rear windows, two sets of alloys, 59, 010 ish miles, might just be over into 60K come Nov

Maybe having the heavier diesel upfront on the mk2 isnt helping matters with the handling either

Same chassis as the mk1 mate and the vRS mk1 will have a similar weight lump ;)

True that

Somebody on here commented not so long ago about how the petrol handles better then the diesel though. 'The plumber' maybe? I cant remember who it was.

I'd love one and wouldn't moan but for some it's nose heavy

Aye might be partly to blame, i dno though its like the mk1's were built to last which i dont get the same feeling in my mk2, maybe its because the mk2 is part of this modern day obsession with making cars more economic ie. shedding weight by making everything cheaper and plasticy' :D

I still remember when i first took a look at mine on the garage forecourt, ran it up and lifted the bonnet to see the engine bobbing about and sounded rough as hell, then i realised it was a 3 pot :D

Yeah I was stuck in traffic when I bought mine (petrol) thought I'd lost a cylinder on the way home until I'd read up
