DPF sensor failure

Featured Replies

Hi all we have had our monte 1.6 tdi 105 for 18 months "the car is 2 yrs old", at the weekend the Contol center for exhaust light came on and stayed on? the curly heater plugs light came on after about 20 mins of driving but would go off and stay off after the ignition was turned of then on again.

Skoda assist and the main dealers "Hayseldens" were great, the problem was the temp sensor in the exhaust/dpf and was quickly replaced under warranty , through this great site I know there's a few sensors in the exhaust and know there's a lot of failures now all I can think about is the cost of these sensors their life span and do we keep the car longer than 3yrs "we normally keep our cars 6yrs" can anybody give me the price of these sensors and how long are these sensors lasting?

All cars have multiple sensors, whether diesel or petrol cars. You are no better off selling your 1.6 at 3 years and buying another than any other make of car. Sensors are in the main very very reliable. The 1.6cr is very reliable. Most never get any issues with the sensors or the dpf. I've owned modern Skoda's for over 7 years, both petrol and diesel and never had sensor failure. My sister owns the 1.6cr and has not had a sensor failure in 4 years of owning it. Cost is something you just need to google and you'll see they are not outrageously expensive. Always use genuine Skoda/VW sensors. Some have to be calibrated at fitting and the oem's work best.
