Hi guys,

I'm a bit new to this section so bear with me..

I'm at both ends of the spectrum when it comes to detailing as I personally have a 23 year old Golf that's paint is showing it's age and a '14 plate Seat Ibiza. I am looking to restore the Golf's paint to it's former glory without a respray, which may prove a challenge but that's for another subject.

The Ibiza is white so loves to get dirty very quickly. I cleaned it the other day using the two bucket method and polished/waxed it with Autobrite Cherry Glaze (Wax Appeal group buy):

As you can see the results are pretty good to be fair but I want to protect them for longer.

I've seen lots of hype about the hydrophobic (water repellent) sealants available but it seems to be early days for the market.

Has anyone got any recommendations?? CarPro Reload is a product I keep seeing about, anyone used it?

I use carbon collective oracle, and the car stays cleaner for longer!

Can't comment for a white car though.

+1 for Carpro reload on top of their Hydro2

Soft-99 Fusso seems very water repellent to me. My car is dry by time I get round the corner. Still gets dusty and dirty which slows this process but cleaning is a lot easier. I've only had it on a few weeks but it says it could last 12 months. It's good but I doubt it is that good.

Lots more experience people of here than me though.

I would suggest something that sheets quickly instead of beading well as in theory this should sheet away the dirt with the water!

Obsession Wax Itus was made specifically for winter and sheets very well to keep the car looking cleaner for longer.

Sealant is the best option for a white car and is more durable if youre leaving it over winter

Many to choose from...Ceramic is best but can be tricky to apply

I recommend Sparlkeys next GB

Easy to apply and sheets off well

has he got another one coming up Chris, or are you refering to the obessive detail (clarity?) sealant?

Looking forward to testing that as my car can go from immaculate to absolutely covered in crud in 20mins of Welsh roads

I've had a look into the Soft99 Fusso Light and it looks exactly what I need. I'll give it a try and keep an eye on Sparkleys GB too.

Cheers guys.

Is sheeting not just what the beads do when you move or it's windy?

Technically yes, but some waxes/sealants can sheet water faster than others due to their make up.

Looking forward to trying artdekotsos obsidian wax this weekend , weather permitting.

How many of you guys have actually tried this stuff?

It's on the R36 right now Carl

I've been waiting for decent weather to put a 2nd coat on actually.

How are you finding it Ste? Durability/ shine/ application?

Application is good; but you need to apply VERY thin to ensure easy buffing.

Shine is very good indeed; the follow-up wash was a doddle too.

Durability..... maybe too early to judge.... but due to detail the car tomorrow before i head to Autobrite HQ on Saturday

Enjoy your day Ste, it's hard not to spend spend spend...

Cheers Carl. :)

If you need anything picking up whilst I'm there then drop me a PM with the details.

I would love the spray version of abyss but, there doesn't seem to be any form of discount at the shop and on the site, which is why I've been buying from shop n shine.

But thank you.
