Can you drive without a front bumper fitted?

Featured Replies

Not illegal is it?

Looks like I'm going to have to drive my car home minus its front bumper as when I went to the garage earlier to collect it, they were SHUT! :grumpy:

So, any issue with this - car is taxed & on disc is on display, showing both numberplates.

So, aside from looking stoopid, any issues?

Just make sure the numperplate is fixed around the correct point and is vertical. If the plod ask, say it fell off and it would have been more dangerous to risk it falling off

The chances are if the plod see it they'll just drive past and say "That was Jason";)

Might also want to run it past your insurers as you're going to do significantly more damage to a pedestrian without a bumper!!!

I think that legally the front wheels must be protected in some way and must not be open - not sure what the wheel arch liners are like.

Gonna have to do it now - Fixed the plate to the bumper support bar. Off to bodyshop first thing monday morning to collect and fit the bumper, then its off to the DVLA office for 9.30. :o

I hope to be able to resolve the lack of boost issue soon though. :(

It would be considered illegal at the bumper bar has sharp edges.

Didn't bother in the end anyway - Going to have to get bumper assuming bodysop is open at 8.30, over to my car, fit it quick and dash back to Exeter for 9.30 inspection....
