The padding in the side bolster of the seat base next to the drivers door seems to have folded/split so you can feel the metal frame. There is no damage to the seat fabric. The car will be 3 years old at the end of November and has only done 21,000 miles, me being the only driver. Has anyone else experienced this? Will skoda warranty cover a replacement?

You can only ask, have the Warranty Manager look at the seat.

It is unlikely they will replace under warranty as they will say Wear & Tear, 

but no harm in asking.

 

They replaced a Seat Base for me under warranty because it would not run back and fore and was locked in place,

but the original seat base bolster was like new

after 25,000 miles & 20,000 miles was of my large bulk. 120 KG ish.

That was last June just before the Warranty was out and the car needed a MOT.

 

I have seen 50,000 mile plus vRS with no wear of the Drivers seat, with them looking as new.

Which really is no help to you, sorry.

to be fair, I have never heard of this failure either... maybe just a one off bad seat!
