New dash warning lights

Featured Replies

:D

Look how far I tested it yesterday - 0.2 of a mile.

Not sure on warning lights - ABS and airbags are obvious ones.

Triangle one is ASR I believe. Is the other one the immobiliser?

Isnt that technically illegal, as youve effectively "clocked" your car?

Might be wrong but I think its the engine light - symptomatic I think of the wrong boost pressure sender and maybe a.n.other thing.

Col - It might be illegal if I tried to sell the car claiming its a 7360 mile car, but I've got an "entry" in the service book stating the mileage when the PD100 was removed and the mileage on the PD130 installed, so I will have always have an overall mileage for the car itself to hand, as long as I don't lose the service book.

Jason, don't you have a Fabia handbook?

If not, I can sell you my spare one :D;)

I don't have a vRS one, you're right. ;) You going to the Southampton or TSR rolling road day? ;)

But in all seriousness I would like to know the legality issues of "running" my car showing a different mileage. personally I see no harm being done to anyone by myself, so nothing needs doing.

Xav - Very interested in your spare manual - obviously only the manual bit - you should hold on to or destroy preferably, the service history and any other ID documents from furby mkI.

It's perfectly legal for you to fit a new dash showing a different mileage on your car in your circumstances.

It would be illegal to misrepresent the actual mileage on the vehicle when you come to sell it

It ain't illegal to drive around showing the incorrect mileage. It's estimated 50% of the cars on the road are " corrected mileage"

I've still got a box of matches on offer if you want them. ;):D

10p? :D

As I never plan to sell this car I don't see it being a problem. I will have a log of actual mileage anyway, which would be declared in the unlikely event.

Speaking of 50% - mate bought an L reg Cavvy TD... with 46,000 on the clock. Hmmmm. No service history either. Good job it was dirt cheap.

Hmmm, my ASR light is a car skidding. Is this an '05 thing or something...

I think so - much more obvious what it relates to than a warning triangle with a circle round it
