winter wheels fitted - service next

Featured Replies

fitted my winter wheels to my Octavia today. I have the feeling that the warm weather is waiting to catch us out. Not my favourite job, but even worse when it is freezing cold and wet.

Now I just have to decide which oil to use for the service on my 1.9 pd. Having read the posts on here I am totally confused about which spec to use and which will be better for my engine. vw 505.1 or vw507. The Eurocarparts website is confusing and contradictory, so undecided still

VW507.

507 is for variable service intervals while 505.01 is for fixed 10k / annual service intervals. So use what ever your car service interval is set to, only time you can't use 505.01 oil is if your car has a dpf which only applies to scout, 4x4 and vrs pd models, which means if you have a dpf you are restricted to 507 long life only. If you are still confused just go for 507 as it is suitable for both types of service intervals with the only downside being cost due to being a longlife oil.

Thanks for the reply chaps. Some opinions favour using the 505.1 as originally specified, even over the 507, as it was designed for the PD engine?

VW 507.00 is the highest spec diesel engine oil that the VAG use and is perfectly suited to both the PD and CR engines.

It is fully synthetic, long life and low ash - and importantly is only a few quid more expensive than the others. It's a no-brainer for me.

This site helps to call-out the differences in VAG oil specs:
