Buy nearly new Mk 1 or wait for new order book?
Yes, they're still wanting 50 for run out models. I've read about the issues with the tdi engine, water pumps, dpf. egr etc. (plus the timing belt every 5years as opposed to a chain) and I'm leaning towards a tsi. Anyone towed with one? I'll be pulling about 1550 kgs

That answers one question. I'm considering a 2.0 TSI and they're still asking 50k for run out models.

Wow, thanks for such a comprehensive reply, I really appreciate it. I can't wait too long, I need a 4 x 4 for my daughter's new horse trailer. I wonder when they'll be available

Towing with a skoda superb?
That's a bit disappointing. Wide summer tyres don't help I suppose

Buy nearly new Mk 1 or wait for new order book?
I'm considering a nearly new Kodiaq and have three questions. Am I likely to get a great deal on nearly new considering the new model is imminent? Am I better off ordering new when available? Is the new model a quantum leap or big improvement (or otherwise) on the current model, which I haven't yet researched in depth? I'd appreciate any input.

Kodiaq overheating at "random"
Am I right in thinking these issues are with the TDI engine? I'm car hunting and may go for the tsi instead

Kodiaq boot size
Yes, but think how much more envious your other neighbours will be of the chap with the BMW (in his mind at least). In reality, very few cars engender envy of any kind, because everyone has "prestige" marques now thanks to PCP etc.

Towing with a skoda superb?
This is what I thought. The option of changing suspension settings appeals to me, rather than hoping a standard setup would cope OK.

Towing with a skoda superb?
Probably one haynet and a water container, perhaps 20 litres. I'd keep as much weight as possible in the car

is dpf/egr still an issue with newer diesels?
Still pondering, a petrol isn't out of the question, I need to do a couple of test drives, I think

Towing with a skoda superb?
The trailer is stated as around 900kg and the horse has been weighed at around 650kg

Towing with a skoda superb?
My daughter has bought a horse box so I need a 4wd car of some description. My Audi A4 Avant will tow it just fine but as soon as we get onto wet grass I know we'd be going nowhere. The trailer would be used perhaps once or twice a month , and I want a comfortable ride the rest of the time. My shortlist includes a Skoda Superb. I like the idea of the L and K 280tsi, with the adaptive suspension, because it can be firmed up whilst towing and softened when not towing. I also like the Audi Q5 but it always feels like their dealers are doing you a favour just speaking to you (Yeovil Audi, where I bought my A4, were an exception, being very good, but they are a long way away). Most Q5s also seem to be the M Sport, which I suspect does not have a great ride. I'm also looking at a Kodiak. My concern with the Superb is that the kerb weight is a bit close to the 1550 kg or so I'll be pulling. Does anyone tow with one of these?

Shout out to Skoda owners
I have found, through owning my previous Octavia and my wife's current Citigo that these Skoda forums are easily the best of the car forums I've used.. I'm now looking for a 4wd car, as my daughter's bought a horse trailer. My shortlist includes the Superb 4wd and an Audi Q5. I asked the same question on the owners club Q5 forum about modern diesel cars and DPFs and received virtually no response. I have also found Skoda dealers to be much more approachable than Audi dealers, which is almost enough alone to push me back towards Skoda.
