Anyone using White Diamond Metal Polish?

Featured Replies

Looking for something to clean, polish & protect the chrome exhaust tips on my Yeti. They are in good condition, just need to be kept clean & protected.

This White Diamond Metal Polish seems to do the job, but have read a couple of reviews saying it's not too good on chrome and 'scratched'/dulled the finish.

Bit concerned about that.

Anyone used it? Thoughts please.

Or recommend any alternatives that will protect the exhaust chrome tips?

Not used it, but ones I can recommend & have used is Britemax Twins & Autosol. If you need some agitation then some 000 grade wire wool works a treat.

Not used White Diamond metal - Sorry.

Autosol is an old favourite and good value.

Britemax Metal Twins are my current favourite on my exhaust chrome.

Provides polish and sealant in separate bottles - which works well.

I shall look at the Britemax stuff if it has a polish and a sealant. That's what I'm after.

Thanks.

Big fan of autosol here.  Never felt like trying anything else.

Looks like I may only be needing the 'Final Shine', but concerned that it is not for plated or annodized metals!

What's the chrome on a Yeti exhaust tip then?

Does that 'protect' as well as polish? I've never used it.

Seems it leaves a wax coating behind.

And the price difference makes it pretty appealing!

How 'aggressive' is Autosol?

Autosol is pretty good....and TCut Metal Polish..almost identical

I currently use Megs NXT Metal polish

Really nice product and lasts for ever...Buy from Halfords or online

Having read up on the three main options above, I've gone for Meguiars NXT Metal Polish which I got the last one from ECP on eBay for £7.28 which will hopefully last for ages since there is very little chrome on a Yeti.

I'll report back when I've had a chance to try it out.

I'll give it a tough first test on my untouched Octavia exhaust! Not expecting miracles there though.

Not a bad choice - i still have this on the detailing shelf. In fact it is particularly good for chrome/stainless steel about the house.

I use Autosol on heavily contaminated car metal; then move to Britemax Twins to maintain.

Do you have some wire wool at the ready as well?

Let us know how you get on.

Will get some wire wool for my Octavia (it'll need it) but I/m hoping that the Yeti won't need anything aggressive. Hopefully.

Have you got the yeti now?

Not yet. Still awaiting the DVLA allocating a new number plate to it.

I'm just getting everything in place and (hopefully) practice on the Octavia and make any mistakes on that.

I have found wet sanding and then metal polishing to be pretty effective at times (very light grade of wet & dry :))

The last metal polishing I did was on Mrs. Holroyd's Octavia tail pipes

I used a brillo pad and followed that with the Megs NXT Metal Polish:
