Glovebox Issue - Help!

Featured Replies

I picked up my MK2 FL VRS about 3 weeks ago, I've done 3,000 miles in it thus far including a 900 mile trip around Scotland and to say I'm impressed is an understatement. However the glove box is making the most annoying noise and I can't find the solution despite 108 miles on the A9 the other day up to Inverness spent mostly placing bits of card board in different places trying to fix it!

The noise is like plastic/rubber rubbing together. If I place pressure on the glove box lid it disappears.

I've tried taking the side panel off the dash, tightening the screws behind there etc to no avail. The noise seems to be coming from the actual opening/closing mechanism but I can't fathom a way to stop it and thought that this must have been encountered before and someone may be able to help.

My next course of action is to remove the glove box altogether but I didn't want to just go un-doing screws here, there everywhere and wondered if there was a specific order to getting the glove box out or anything to be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

If i recall correctly - there are adjustment screws on the upper lip for the glovebox.

Sometimes simply loosening off then re-seating can help cure the issue.

A secondary one to look out for is the dashboard end card on the passenger side.

After i looked into the "glovebox" squeak/rattle on my Octavia; i found there was an issue with this fitting as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll try those screws.

I'm going to take that end panel off as well on the drive home, see if it makes a difference.

Thanks Nick, I have read through that one a couple of times. Just been out to the car, loosened/tightened the screw indicated in that post 3 so I'll give that a try.

I was going to try the Velcro down the end panel as well but mine doesn't even touch the rubber door seal so I can't see the noise coming from there but we'll see.
