Amundsen infotainment system strange behaviour

Featured Replies

I'm currently experiencing an intermittent fault with the Amundsen system in my 14 plate Elegance hatch.  The problem seems to only happen shortly after starting the car and it is as though the touch screen is being randomly pressed.   If it is in radio mode it will start beeping and cycling through stations, deleting presets and generally behaving oddly.  On the sat nav screen it will again start beeping and randomly jumping through menus, changing options etc.  While the system is behaving like this the pressing the touch screen has no effect.  The problem usually seems to stop after 5 or so minutes and normal operation resumes (albeit that all the presets on the radio have disappeared and other random setting changes have occurred).

The problem seems to be worse when the car has been left standing for a period of time but doesn't happen every time it is started.

Has anyone experienced similar issues or have any clues as to what is going on?

Take it back to the dealership. Software update?

I have the same system in my Superb and mine just switches itself off. Similar to yours MrCat it only happens shortly after starting the car.

It's booked in to the dealer to get it sorted.........

Could it perhaps be a sticky menu/scroll button on the unit (the one on the right side which controls menu scrolling & selections)?

I would expect there would be some internal diagnostics of these buttons to detect when one is stuck or continually pressed.

Does this button/dial work normally after the 5s you mentioned?

Yep everything works normally once it regains it's composure and settles down.

Since my original post I've seen a post from another forum member who is having similar symptoms on a bolero system.  One of the replies to that thread suggests that the problem was due to a faulty screen, replacement of which resolved the problem.

I will mention it to the dealer next time I'm in and see what they say.
