mobile phone software

Featured Replies

i got me a nokia 6680 from O2 and they have stuck they're own software on it so i can't change the odd thing on it.

for example when i try to change the screen saver on it my only choice's are text, time or O2. i can't set it to any animated gif i want.

does anyone know how i can change the software to how it came out of the factory so i can set things like this how i want?

Won;t it let you Restore Factory Settings ??

Its an Option under SETTINGS.

not sure if that'll do it mate, but might try it anyway :)

Normally I believe if you get the firmware flashed at a Nokia service centre it deletes all the SP crap they force on you. So then you would end up with a phone as though you bought it direct from the manufacturer.

I've just got one of these for my work phone. Its on Vodafone, but I'm quite impressed so far.

Installed Tom Tom Mobile 5 on it at the weekend (use with bluetooth GPS unit) and its working great.

the phone is good i agree, no problems with that. just annoying how companies stick modified software on them

Same here with my o2 Sony Ericsson K750i. It's not as restrictive as your Nokia but it will only boot up with certain screens and you can't delete them in the menu. It's filled with unwanted o2 cr*p aswell. I'm just waiting for the USB cable to be delivered as you can download the latest software updates from Sony Ericsson's website now...
