Hey there. I'm new on here and was wondering if you guys could help me.

I have a 56 plate Vrs and from the rear I keep getting a knocking noise every time I go over a speed bump. Iv had my mechanic check it out a couple of times and he can see nothing wrong.

Has anyone else ever had this problem ? Is it at all common ?

I had the same symptoms with nothing obviously sha... worn.

Turned out to be a knackered shock absorber, it still damped but had an intermittent 10mm play on its stroke which manifested itself as a loud knock over bumps.

Only found it out by disconnecting the lower end of the shock from the hub and working it up and down energetically.

Fortunately a new pair of OE Monroe shocks were £40 from mister-auto.

Just come across this thread when searching. Im getting a simular noise. Ordered some koni strt shocks to hopefully solve the problem

My knocking noise was the nearside topmount.
