Trying to find some detailed info on Octavia (2.0 TDI estate MK2 1Z) heating troubleshooting.

 

Has anyone taken/replaced the heater matrix? Mine is in the middle of the bulkhead - I can't even get a hand in to feel the pipes to see if they're hot how do you get at it?

 

I've read some other threads but can't seem to find the answer....

 

So far i've just drained the coolant (it was amber coloured (!) flushed the system and refilled with G13 / de-ionised water.

 

Next I presume is to the check the matrix?

 

All help much appreciated!
