Space saver spare wheel

Featured Replies

I need a spare wheel and have seen a new one advertised locally, VAG 1k0 601 027 f.

I think this is for the Golf but would it fit an Octavia vRS?

It has a 125/70R16 tyre and ET25,5

Any reason why a space saver?

Might be easier to pick up a full size spare alloy.

I read somewhere that a full size spare would not sit flush under the boot floor? Then I would have to buy all the tools. This one is brand new and comes with everything!

Mine has a 16" steel wheel fitted,i think the tyre size is 205/60/r16.This is the same overall size as the standard 225/40/r18 alloy.

So has mine.  Much more use than a space saver although still limited to 80kph (50mph).  A full size spare is even better.

I do agree that a full size spare or even the 16" spare would be the best option however google searches show this is compatible. At £30 brand new its a much better option than the gunk so I may pick it up anyway!

Ok so I went and bought this, exactly as described, brand new with all the tools for £30. The only thing missing is the plastic screw to hold the wheel in place on the plastic post. I'm sure I'll be able to source one locally fairly cheaply!

Screw and post sourced from stealers for £8 however full size spare sourced from Nixd33 for a great price so the space saver is now surplus to requirements.

I was always more comfortable with a space saver than the gunk however am much more comfortable with a full size spare than a space saver!

Space saver is better than nothing, deffo a good buy for £30.

I need a 18" space saver. 16" don't fit over my brakes :-(

Very good buy I had a spare wheel with no tools when I bought my Octavia but just yesterday bought the tools off eBay from a breaker for £20 with jack tow eye wrench 4 locking nuts and locking bolt

So £30 with a space saver is great just put it in your garden or shed you never know when it will come in handy
