Ipod connectivity

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just got my nee works Octavia greenline iii and need advice on getting my ipod working in the car to display on the screen what is playing etc. my car only has the aux and usb ports is there any way i can do this?

Thanks

Matt

Unless you have Columbus or the Mitsumi option you can't, other than connecting with bluetooth which gives limited functionality.

You can connect the iPod with a jack plug on the Aux input. But you won ´t get the artist/title/cover art... And control remains from the iPod.

Thanks guys

Try plugging it in with the Apple USB lead. You never know you're luck.

Otherwise, copy your iTunes library onto a USB stick or SD card and then plug that in. You'll be able to control tracks etc that way. Aux plug affords no control.

He can try but it won't work.

I wouldn't have thought so either. But it's possible the car might have been a cancelled or showroom order so might not be basic spec. A mate of mine once bought a 3 series that was sourced from another dealership's showroom floor. Turned out it came with 2 or 3 minor options that he didn't ask for or was charged for.

I also think I remember reading on a Golf MK7 forum about someone who plugged in an older iPod to a car without iPod preparation and the car read it like a USB device.

Yep I tried the usb charging cable when I originally drove a demo one. No joy.

It was the same for me on a vrs with bolero 63 plate. Took the early and later apple usb lead with a 4th gen nano and iphone 5s. Neither would play :-(
