Engine Mounts - Which replacements and how to ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My poor old '07 Octy has now covered 151K miles and I feel that the engine mounts need replacing as the engine is slopping about all over the place. Can any one advise which replacements to use, I've read the THS FR3 ones are good but I can't seem to source them from anywhere. Also is it a job that I can do on the driveway ? Many thanks

Sorry, I forogt to mention that the car is totally standard so I'd prefer non race mounts as they're a bit harsh, thanks

Sorry to bump this one again but I could really do with some advice, otherwise I'm guessing it'll have to go the dealers and have new standard ones fitted

No surprise at the lack of replies here. Never needed to have  engine mount replaced since I gave up wonderful 'BMC' cars 35 years ago. :sun:

Thanks for your reply   I know what you mean, unfortunately when starting my engine and sometimes changing gear I get a clonk noise and I can really move the engine by grabbing the top of it and push/pulling it. I've read a few issues regarding engine mounts on the other BKD engined car forums, so just guessed that surely someone on here has replaced them. The car is going if for a cambelt change in a couple of months so I'll have a word with the garage then

What you want? Engine change old vs new, or mount different engine (BKD to BMM, or some CR)? In Czech republic is mounting of different motors forbidden, only same engine with same code (BKD, BMM, BMN, CEGA ...) is possible to mount, I think in England Is this same...

No, I'm looking at replacing the engine mounts as they seem very loose (engine movement)

As the existing ones have lasted 151K miles - I would just have a new set of OEM ones installed by your chosen garage.
