Front wipers self parking?

Featured Replies

Good evening,

I'm sure in the past, that if the front wipers were still going when I switched off the ignition, they self parked to the low position.

However, I have noticed recently that they stop on the screen in an arbitrary position if the ignition is switched off, I.e.not parked.

Any thoughts please, thanks.

Mine stop where ever they are at the time.

Mine also stop wherever they are when the key is turned.

That is on the AUTO setting, perhaps the MANUAL settings are different...

On my 2012 car the wipers stop wherever they are when the ignition is switched off.  However, if ignition switched off with wipers in the usual park position and then the single wipe immediately activated then the wipers move to the topmost (service) position so that the blades can be lifted off the screen without the wiper arms fouling the rear edge of the bonnet.  I assume that happens on all Octavias.

Yes, the service position procedure is the same on MkII models.
