Subs And Amps

Featured Replies

hi all, just a quick question,

i am lookn at geting a sub and amp, but to be honest no nothing about ICE. i will replace my OE speakers too.

can you adjust the sub volume/effect independently? i dont want the sub to drown out the music or be to overpowering, are they worth the money and hassle?

Kenny, yes you can. Its normally done from the head unit, but if you have an amp purely for the sub, you can use that.

cool, are subs worth buying ?

Kenny - I'll let you know about the hassle when I begin to fit my sub & amp. Have bought all the cabling I think I need - just need to get my head around routing everything, without causing personal harm to myself. :D

Kenny - it is worth it, and you will notice the difference.

Depending on what size amp/sub you use, passers-by may notice too :D

I'd agree that a good sub is money well spent.

Couldn't believe my ears the difference it made when I first fitted one to my car.

I second Monsieur Zoidberg's sentiments.. well, I do NOW. :D

I installed a bazooka subwoofer (RS range) in the boot. It is an 8" driver driven by 150w rms. the bass does not overpower the rest of the frequencies. for me it just sounds right. the head unit, a clarion 738 has a sub out option which i use so that i can control the level input to the subwoofer. the sub is very compact and allows me to take out the spare wheel without first removing the subwoofer. i like it a lot.

the picture below shows the bass tube in the boot...

and this is the head unit (mp3 capable) which drives the amplified tube...

I see you chose a good album to listen to on it.

" He was a sk8rboy, I said see you later boy " :speaker:

I chose "Ibiza: History of Hard Dance" to give my system a test.

and i suggest you try out: Tiga - Hot in Here

that should give your sub and amp a good beating (:

Is that the one that goes "It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes" ??

I gotta admit I'm not that keen on that style of music if it is what I'm thinking of. I'm more a rock/dance style person, not so much on the R&B & rap.

yes it's just that. nice beat though (:

Jason - see if you get the latest fast-car mag - it has a CD that will certainly test the sub... :D

It's called "Fast Car" is it? - seem's highly ironic if I bought it. :D

Has a CD with 7 bass-heavy tunes, a load of crap (engines revving, etc) and then about 40 tracks of bass drops/sweeps/etc that will make the whole car vibrate :)

Hi ICE Mob,

My vRS sounds the dogs dangly bits. It is comprised of the following: -

Piooner P8006 - The silver dual display thing Mp3/6 disc Auto CD

Alpine Type R 12" Subwoofer and Carlsberg Basecube inclosure

Kenwod 8151D 400W RMS Amp - (Looks like that chip out of the terminator)

2 x Kenwood KAC 630 (150 WRMS Amp x 2)

Focal 165H in front doors

Pioneer SBS6995 on rear parcel shelf (150W RMS MF loud spewakers)

this was proffesssionally installed by my long time friends at Sextons White city, near MUFC.

They were totally blown away by the power and sound quality.

It took 2.5 days too complete the install.

Sorry don't mean to show off but if you see a Red vRS blasting around Manchester....

Not stupid enough to give the reg aas mr thief will be rubbing his hands.
