Fabia 1.4tdi Oil change.

Featured Replies

Looked on here, looked in Haynes which mentions, "specified quantity " of oil ,and Owners manual. Still in the dark . On an oil change, how much 505.01 do I need. Again, Haynes shows oil filter in front middle of engine. I seem to remember filter is below  battery as an old paper type element in a metal bowl.

Any pointers to photos etc.

Haynes Page 1B.2 - 4.2 Litres - Oil filter is on the front of the engine, ensure you fit both the small 'O' Ring to the bottom of the Filter and fit the new large 'O' Ring to the filter housing Cap - Platinum Quantum Oil - Be careful tightening the Sump Plug you can easily strip the thread in the Sump.

Soz about not getting back earlier ,and thanks for that info - only place I didn't look was in the service info. You mention a small washer - is that the one as fitted to a Crossland Filter on the small extension on end , or is it a washer needed separately from the filter. What I got in box was a large washer ( for the bowl ,I assume) filter , with a small O ring fitted to that extension.

I've only used genuine filters and they always come with the o-ring prefitted to the 'extension' on the end of the filter.

Same as the one i got. Ignore last post, as all became clear when the filter was removed and I could see the O rings. What bothered me was that years ago in desperation as my mileage between changes was a bit high  and as I got a special rate at a fast fit place ( took firms vans there ) I let them change the oil .  As mentioned in another post ,they'd mistaken the power steering bottle for the oil filter, and as a result had leaks , till they discovered that they had to change a seal .
