Will these alloys fit?

Featured Replies

Friend of mine is looking to get rid of his winter wheels, which are 7.0 x 17 5/112 OS 38. I currently have Themisto which I believe are 7.5 x 18 5/112 OS 47.

Tyres are 225/45 R17, and 225/40 R18 respectively.

When I chuck these numbers into the willtheyfit site, it tells me that the wheels will be 15.4mm further away from the suspension strut, and they will poke out 2.6mm more than before.

Have I got the Themisto offset size correct, and will the new rims be ok with that protrusion?

They will fit and your not going to notice a 2mm offset difference :)

Thanks Darrell.

Sorry, me again.  Do I need any special new bolts and spacers, or can I just use my existing bolts?  Never done this before.

The wheels are black, so I would just get some black bolt covers.

You only need longer bolts if you fit spacers and you don't need spacers so they will be fine :)

Are the wheels genuine VAG? if so then use the same bolts, if they are aftermarket wheels then they may need different bolts.

Cheers. They are after market.

I want to get some black wheel nut caps for the black wheels. I will just use my existing bolts on the big sko'. Does anyone know off the top of their head what size they are? 17mm, 19mm?

Just wondered if these would fit: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=251712339875

Otherwise I will just check when I get back home tonight.

Bolts are 17mm.

Thanks linni.  Have ordered some matt black Audi ones from the bay of E: 16 x 17mm + 4 x locking nut covers.

Will 8x18 ET/OS : 45 fit?

I want a sleek look, I don't want so that the rims are pushed all the way in so much.

Ok, so I got some spigot rings sent to me for my dezent alloys. Three sources told me to get 70.1/57.1 mm spigots. Tried to get them fitted, but my wheel fitter couldn't get them on for love nor money - said they could do with about 1mm being shaved off.

Has anyone had the same problem? I notice that 70.1/56.1 mm spigots are also available for Skoda wheels: do I need those instead?

All sorted. The wheel fitter was trying to fit new Skoda sized spigots onto the Mercedes sized spigots that were already on the wheels. In fairness, it was raining hard at the time, and there was a lot of brake dust on them.

What size wheels are those? How wide and what ET?

^ is a library pic. This is how they look on mine: http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/12/13/ef3d7668d1ad14f9e685e32bf7d72930.jpg

They are 7J x 17 offset is 38, which were taken from a Mercedes, where the PCD is the same @ 5/112.

So I've gone down a size on the thermisto.

Tyres are 225/45 R17 Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme.

Are they flush with the bodywork, or how far are they in? I want to buy some new rims, preferably 18x8J Offset 35. So that they're flush with the bodywork, I would probably lower it 30/40mm too.

They're pretty flush around the rim, and the centre of the wheel sticks out about 5mm - but the wheel I have is designed to stick out around the centre anyway, which you can see in the pic.

Finally got around to getting my summer wheels onto the tyre tree I got for Xmas. They were already in tyre bags, and sticking them on the tree frees up a bit of space, arguably. Saves having to keep turning the wheels anyway.

This is what I have.

Instructions were hopeless, but common sense prevailed. And feels sturdier than some of the reviews suggest.
