Fabric Spray Paint

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Has anybody on here ever used any fabric Spray paint I've got Octy VRS interior and would like to paint the centres black with some fabric paint because I can't afford to get the fabrics changed.

Can anybody recommend a brand? How long does it last before fading? Does rub off onto clothes of sat on for a long time? Silly questions probably haha

Thanks in advance for any help

Thanks Adam

I've used Autoglym black dye in a can, which works well. Just needs care when applying. :)

Thanks :) does it fade at all?

Just want to get rid of the white centres as they get filthy all the time

Over time it might. It's aimed more at faded cloth car mats.

Oright okay, suppose if it fades i could just flick over it again couldnt i.

How many cans do you reckon id need to do front and rear seats?

Thanks mate. They look better with white centres but they get filthy so easy. So that's literally just done with any matt black spray paint?

You try giving them a proper clean then applying a protectant like scotch guard.

That's what I've done to mine and they are still very clean.

I'm a mechanical engineer so don't think anything I do to the white will help. I'm just gonna steam clean them then spray them black and see how it goes

Thanks for the idea tho mate :)

Just apply liberal amounts of used motor oil. Doubt that'd fade.

Haha dont think the misses would like that idea

You need to watch the dye as I have found being too heavy with it can cause transfer of black onto skin/clothing.  Not ideal :D

I suspect I was not following the instructions very well....

Haha il make sure i take care when i apply it then. Dont want to be getting out the car with a black patch on my arse haha

Most dyes I've seen require "fixing" in some way. All too easy to end up with dyed backsides IMO.

Yeah that's the one thing that's making me hesitate on doing it.

I'm going to buy a can and try it on something else before I go ahead with the seats

Could you not just sell them and buy the normal

Black leather ones? They come up quite often cheap enough.

I don't have the money to buy new interior mate

Yeah I suppose, but if you sell the ones your going to paint and use that money to buy new ones.

Good luck anyway, if ou do paint/dye them take plenty of pictures

What seats would I sit on whilst I've sold the ones in the car and waiting to buy new ones? Haha

Thanks mate :) if I go ahead with it I will do :)
