Sorry if I'm repeating previous questions but my searches came up a bit short.

Basically I have a 51 reg ASV 110 Tdi with no service history(!) so don't know if it was on fixed or variable servicing. Last year I had picked up some of Halfords VW 504/507 oil when it was on offer and used it when the service indicator came on after 9k or so miles. (I have also learnt today that by reseting the indicator on the dash I will have switched it to fixed anyway).

Fast forward another 9k miles and she wants another service, but do I need the posher 504/507 oil or would the 505 oil be fine? ECP seem to steer me towards the posher stuff and I know you get what you pay but I also like a bargain.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I just done the first service on mine (since ownership) at the weekend and I used Quantum 5w/30 long life (gold bottle), hth.
