Door switch and courtesy lights

Featured Replies

My 51 Fabia has a fault in that when drivers door opens the red light on door, courtesy lights and lights left on alarm dont work. I suspect the switch in the door hinge area as all the bulbs are ok, but I cant find it. Could anyone kindly point me in the right direction please

It's the microswitch in the drivers door lock unit inside the door. The problem is very common across lots of VAG group cars.

The switch isn't available as a separate part, but with a bit of ingenuity you can fit a similar switch as I did (see above link). Other than that, you need a new lock unit which isn't cheap.

I edited my original post to show how to do it. See above.

Many thanks. I was having a fiddle with the wiring loom that passes into the door through the grommet and got it to work, but only once!

I'd check that first then. The rubber bellows just pull off. Same thing happened to mine but it only affected the central locking.
