Can you confirm these for me?

Featured Replies

Swapped the factory fit Bolero in my Yeti for a Columbus (3T0...A) that has been upgraded by me to 4020 firmware. The Columbus was working fine in my previous car, an Octavia. I also have factory fitted BT and mic whereas the Octavia's were retrofitted by me.

I now get these fault codes:

CD Changer (R41) - is that referring to the external CD changer in the boot of the Octavia that it can't find or the Bolero built in CD change that it also can't find?

Radio Antenna Open Circuit - I know that is caused by the Columbus having a broken pin in the AM/FM side of the FAKRA radio connector;

Microphone for Telephone (R38) - is caused by it being asked to have voice control by the Columbus / VCDS but the factory cabling not being routed correctly for this to work?

I know that I can make the fault code for the mic disappear by removing the tick against 'Microphone diagnostics active' or by turning off voice control, but wanted to be sure that the issue is actually being caused by the voice control and that a bit of rewiring will make it go away - and work.

Re the last one, I have never been able to remove that error with my Columbus without turning off mic diagnostics regardless of how the voice control is wired.  I read somewhere it was only active in Japan or something which suggests it needs a slightly different wiring set up and should be off in UK market cars.

Re the first, I think the first byte should be off unless you actually have a CD changer...

Thanks Adam.

I never had the third error in my Octavia, but that had a loom for BT/Mic/MDI that was fitted by me.

This Yeti has factory fitted BT/Mic.

I'll check the coding again for the CD Changer, but don't recall seeing anything this morning when I was looking for things.

Sorry KB you are quite right re the first point, I looked again at my coding and I was getting muddled with the BT module which has a similar setting relating to diagnostic monitoring which has to be off...

No problem. Thanks.

Not until now. Thanks.

I'll check my coding when I get home to see what's what.

I think I might have to rewire if I want voice control to work though.

Thanks for digging out the thread. Saves me doing it!

I need to decide if I can be bothered to do this given that I have a lot of other things to do and don't really use voice control much at present.

Its not the most important or useful feature of the Columbus is it?

  • Author

Not really.

Want to make sure voice dialing works.

The rest I could live without.
