Annoying rattle from the dashboard of my VRs

Featured Replies

Love my Fabia VRs, but an annoying vibration/rattle from the area of the dashboard is driving me nuts. Anyone else had similar problems ? (mileage 7,500)

Yep- annoying only when the stereo's off. Dont know what can be done about it really.....

Is it in the centre, and appearing to come from the back just below the windscreen, or from centre air vents?

In that case it might be the centre dashboard mount. A bit of rubber can be shoved back there with the aid of a long bladed screwdriver. I did this and stopped the squeaking dead.

Aside from that, not sure what an actual "rattle" would be.

The rattle/buzz on mine comes from the right handside of the dial-cover bit (Technical term ;))

Well my VRS has only covered 600miles and i have two very annoying rattles.

One from the dashboard passenger side just between vent and window, its extremely loud, to the point you can hear it over the stereo. Also have one on passenger door.

Cars going in next monday, they will have the car for two days incase they need to strip out the complete dashboard.

Pain in the ***

ive started to find rattles now, some on the dash near the wheel and then both air vents rattle...could it just be the engine vibrations resinating up through the dash ? Oh and my seat has started to creak like it needs a good oiling or something !

The seat creak appears a lot on this forum, mine does it a bit now. Moving the fore and aft position to and fro, then going back to original spot, makes it go away for a while but always returns. Can't go on moving the seat back and forward every other time I get in though, so eventually it'll be back to the local Skoda dealer. Maybe the cold weather will cause it to disappear, everything shrinks and tightens up then (vain hope! :( )

I've also noticed a faint "rattle" from same place as Dave Fox, not loud (yet!) but nothing seems to stop it - tried tapping, banging flat of hand, pushing etc. all except the big hammer! If it gets too bad will have them both looked at together.

Mines on nearly 6k now.

Had the same problem , turns out its the ghost of a czech car workers granny. nowt you can do about it apparently. Not mentioned in the brochure??

When you said DIALS I thought you meant the vent dials, not the instrument panel. :D That could be something mount related,up that way. Might be worth seeing if the instruments are mounted in the dash correctly too. I imagine they might squeak a little if in a bit skew-wiff. :D

Aside from that, good luck. Got no squeaks yet with my new setup although I am using the same dash, so I should think so too. :)
