fabia monte carlo tech front suspension knock.when steering right

Featured Replies

Hi there  .Thought someone on here could help .i Own a fabia monte carlo tech 1.6cdr 2013 .Had it from new .At 8000 miles  there was a knock and grinding noise when turning right at low speeds .I took it into my  skoda dealer in Yarmouth where it was checked .Answer 'Could hear the noise couldnt find it ".Took it back a month later same noise .checked over was told they have had another one in with the same noise can't cure it .I wasn't satisfied so contacted  Steph  at Skoda uk a very polite and helpful person .Fabia was sent to dealer again for a week  to have it sorted .Same answer  can hear the noise can't find out what it is .Next Step, skoda uk   sent(a "sound technician" with listening devices to find which part of the car it was .(left hand front  i would say). His answer  the car makes a knocking noise but its safe to drive and a characteristic  of the fabia  car .Rubbish it didn't start till 8000 miles now done 11000 miles same noise .Any one out there got the same problems  or can throw any light on the subject..Apparent only a problem with monte carlos not the normal  fabia .At the dealers tomorrow to try and exchange it or get a super deal on the fabia 3 for very little money .

Cheers for that will make a suggesting to skoda tomorrow . Now read a post to say that the inner joints in the steering rack some were sent out dry from the factory .SKODA  denied its any thing to do with the steering .makes my case more interesting.thanks

My 63 plate monte is on 18k and is silent, not a single rattle or knock!

I have the same problem, on full right lock on adverse cambered roads (coming out of my drive) there is a load knocking from the wheel arch, Hortons in Lincoln have looked at it and given it a good bill of health. the knocking wasn't anything terminal and is amplified by my lowered suspension. I have had it checked by someone in my fathers garage and they havre said the same thing.

Mine started to happen after it was lowered and doesn't happen when the tyres are at the correct psi.

Thank you .I would hope when it was serviced by skoda the same time they checked and heard the knock that they had checked the tyre pressures .ive normal suspension not lowered and at times it knocks just like a drop link knocks when its loose or worn ,but only when i steer clockwise doesn't have to be on full lock

I thought i had a excellent result at simpsons skoda at  Gt Yarmouth .Talked to Jamie about the track rods and he went away with the information  i got off here ,came back and said there was a known problem with inner ball joints and would have my car in and check them .If  the grease in the inner rubbers is red  the inner rods/balls  need changing very understanding person i was right chuffed ...................Then when i went to book it in to be checked Jamie checked with what i can only describe as a person who wanted to show his authority to Jamie said if we've checked that  last time shan't be doing it again not even listening to the fact that  the joints had been checked but not the grease colour .I am really angry as i think the inner ball joint changed will cure it .I walked out in disgust of this pompus little man.Shant be buying  the new fabia   yet .

Hi again took the  monte to Robinsons in  norwich .A quick drive round the car park the mechanic said  "ball  joints steering rack end ". They took it in lent me a car changed the rods .( when they removed the steering rubbers grease had changed colour confirming the problem ).Got the car back and it is perfect many thanks robinsons Norwich ,something Simpsons at Great Yarmouth couldn't cure after 15 days in their garage .Will now be changing all servicing to Robinsons .
