XDS Question?

Featured Replies

Will me Yeti Greenline have XDS as an option wich could be enabled via VCDS?

I know the 4x4 models do and some other 2wheel drive model Slodas, any thoughts? And those who have played around with the settings, was the difference nipoticable?

Thanks in advance :)

As long as I can get xds in mine ill be happy

I had hill hold and xds activated on mine

Hill hold is fantastic, not really tried the xds out yet

Been playing with XDS settings with VCDS and I can't feel any difference. Maybe that's just the way I drive!

HHC is great fun and effective, but a gimmick really with good clutch control and a handbrake.

So I need to find out which unit is fitted, need a local VCDS owner who knows how to, love to have a few other bits coded aswell :)

Is that the only way you can tell which modules fitted? Through vcds?

Easier though innit, if you dont generally use the handbrake.

It is easier, but it also encourages people to sit with their foot on the brake pedal blinding the person queued up behind them!

Its great for us with DSG though

It's pretty annoying sitting in a queue of traffic with the car in fronts brake lights burning my retinas out.

Yeah i know what you're saying.

I know im thinking the wrong way here, but everybody seems to do it anyway, so i dont mind doing it haha.

Yes I do. I'm the sort who wears sunglasses as soon as the sun come out or in misty conditions as my eyes are very sensitive to bright lights.

Sitting behind any car at night with their foot on the brakes does impair my vision, is unnecessary, inconsiderate and poor driving. You don't need to do it as you have a perfectly good handbrake. Automatic car or not...

Rant over!

I am a thinking human.

I thought about it.

90% of other drivers dont bother using the handbrake. People are used to it.

I came to the conclusion i might aswell not bother lol.

100 % of those that sit in front of me for prolonged periods of time with the Foot on the brake pedal. or the rear fog lights on

then get to see how bright my full beam is.

(as long as nothing is coming towards us.)

That includes a Police Vehicle in the past.

He was in a XC 90. and got out and came to my window and asked what i was doing.

I asked if he wanted to jump in my car and see what i could see as he sits foot on brake pedal for several minutes each time as we crawled along and stopped in the gridlock.

So, according to a VCDS scan, I have 1K0 907 379 AD ABS Module installed in my Mk2 Octy pre-FL CR170 vRS.

How do I go about enabling XDS then, or at least checking if it's on already?

Have you found out when you drive the car the way you do, that it will benefit from having XDS. ?

Some of us that have it as standard Disable it where they can,

or set it at the lowest setting, because they do not like how it functions.

Not only on Track but in other Spirited driving.

Nipping at your brakes, & overheating Fluid, pads & discs.

Interesting - lowest setting or off is the way to go, then? Doesn't It help in snow and ice?

I guess I've no idea if I'll like it until I try it.

I asked if he wanted to jump in my car and see what i could see as he sits foot on brake pedal for several minutes each time as we crawled along and stopped in the gridlock.

And what was the final outcome?

As to XDS, I have it enabled (set to minimum though). I haven't noticed any effects of it so far.

He got in his vehicle and for the next few miles of stop start traffic he was using the hand brake when he was stationary.

After all his buddy in the other seat maybe reminded him of the Highway code,

& probably had a good laugh at him.

Link, not fixed sorry, but anyhow,

paraphrase, 'must not dazzle other road users',  use hand brake etc.  Switch off fog lights unless required etc

So one person stopped doing it briefly.

You arent going to get through to the other 90% of people on the road.

Most people you flash probably dont even know why you're doing it, and tbh, id just dip my mirror and turn my fog light on if somebody wanted to play that game lol.

Sorry but i must disagree, i find that many get the hint after you flash full beam a couple of time,

and then just leave them on.

The Hand Brake gets used, or the Rear Fogs go off.

Or some put Rear Fogs on.

Then they get Full Beam and Spot lights!!!!

Yes i know it escalates things, and the person that can not just drive sensibly gets worked up, almost Road Rage hightning,

but i am playing with them really.

'Being a Road Captain'.!!

Well actually being dazzled by their inconsiderate driving habits.

Why so angry haha. Its not like being forced to look at the sun or anything.

Theres queues and queues of traffic n most of em have their foot rested on the footbrake.

It may take you a while for the little fabias headlights on full to tell em all.

I certainly wouldnt bother if somebody kept their high beam on lol.
