Squeaky brakes on vRS

Featured Replies

Sometimes when i break, probably once in every ten brakes i get a squeak from the front brakes  it happens whether the car is cold or warm and sometimes it dosen't do it for a long time then starts again  . The car has just had its first year service and I told my dealer but after the service it still squeaks.

has anyone else had this problem or do you know what it is ?

Are you sure its from the front and not the back - the rear caliper/discs on a vrs are renowned for squeaking!

it could be the from the back i suppose, does this happen to anyone elses car ?

Did they do anything with the brakes after you said they squeaked?

no they said it could be metal flakes/filaments in the brake pads or it could be because the brakes are cold. But they said to go back if they still squeak and they will have another look.

I would imagine is a small lip building up on the edge of the disc causing the squeaking.

Or they are glazing up through lack of 'propper' use ;)

thanks for that, the car was off the road for a month or so I think before I bought it so if its the glazing up problem will it right its self after a bit more use ?

Stomp on the brakes a good few times and get them working and it should stop.
