Rear parking sensor query

Featured Replies

Put car into reverse this morning and got a permanent beep with only half the screen showing the radar picture. Take it this meant only the sensors on one side of the rear bumper were working. Would the cold have anything to do with this as they were ok yesterday.

Could be water or ice on the face of the sensors.

Did they show the car to be close to an object on one side (two sensors)? If so that should be good news as it shows the system is still working.

It may be a wiring issue as the rear sensors are in pairs, however this would result in a long beep and nothing being displayed.

If you suspect a duff sensor then put the car in reverse with the ignition on but engine off and listen closely to each sensor for as slight clicking noise. If they all click, then it's not the wring or sensors.

Hope that helps.

If any of the sensors were broken you would get a long beep (that stops after a few seconds) and no display on the stereo.

It sounds like ice or something else on the sensors.

Just replaced one of mine.

Wet damp ice,all effect all reversing sensors, external cameras on a nissan puke I tested were terrible in the wet like a fog on the screen,or was that vomit from the car.

If its water a good wipe with some kitchen towel normally sorts it plus its easy to see when you've removed it all. Just leaving mine facing down hill at the MIL's when it was raining in Cornwall was enough to send mine into a frenzy.....

Thanks guys hope that's all it is. Been threading my satnav wire over top of the steering column on Saturday and it got stuck a few times and I foolishly gave it a couple of tugs. Was worried I may have disturbed a wire or something behind the dash.
