Strange 'bongs' whilst driving.

Featured Replies

Starting to think the previous owner of my car, maybe got shut because of the repeated 'bonging'. It is something akin to the bong i get on my tomtom sat nav, when approaching speed cameras. Car is a fabia 2 1.9tdi estate '08. As far as i know, there is only the Dance radio in the car. The 'bongs' have sounded sometimes on country roads, where there is absolutely no hazards. Completely baffled, any help appreciated. malc.

Has it just started recently? The car will 'bong' when the temp drops to 4° or below, nothing on the dash changes (temp flashes a few times) but no change in colour or new symbol. Could that be it?

You got a speed limiter / warning activated?

Low coolant? Low wiper fluid? Low fuel? Handbrake on? Outside temp warning as mentioned above. Nothing else on a Fabia I don't think.

Tyre pressure warning? Maybe a warning that the light isn't working for?

Maybe a warning that the warning light isn't working? [emoji13]

Seatbelt, handbrake, door open, cold warning, boot open, speed warning, petrol low, tyre pressure low, oil light, coolant level. All these make a bong noise of some sort or other. Or a faulty sensor somewhere even?

Hi jonro2009, thanks very much mate. You hit it spot on, it bonged again (twice) today & the temp flashed at 3°. Very cool i must say (pardon the pun lol). Thanks also to other answering members. Malc.

you will also see like a snowflake to the right of the clock, this will disappear once the temp rises above 6 deg, and will bong when the temp decreases below 4 deg again

Glad you have got it figured out ☺
