BT enters exclusive negotiations to buy EE

Perhaps they'll go the whole hog, buy another company called II and call the new company EIEIO2?

(i'll get my coat......)

Funny you should mention O2 as I think there was talk bout BT buying them also a few weeks back.

Yes - there was. I wonder if they've planning on taking over the world?

Cue evil laugh.....

Yes, BT had looked at buying back O2 and now seem to be interested in EE instead.

They want to be able to offer customers a complete set of landline, mobile, broadband and TV in the same way that Virgin do.

Have heard a lot of bad things about EE's quality of service, should be a good match for BT.

I do OK on EE in Southampton being a 4G area but a few miles away at the GF's there's hardly any signal let alone even H+ or even 3G :(

Internet wise yes, mobile wise they're much better than Vodafone or o2 both of which have rubbish coverage and data speed in comparison.

Are sky still after Vodafone?

You all seem to be missing the word "Mobile".

BT want their own mobile wing again, and have been trying to buy back O2.

I doubt very much EE will be broken up and sold to them, and I also doubt very much that BT want (or would be allowed by OFCOM to buy), EE's fixed line business; so my guess this is just a ploy putting pressure on O2's owners to set a lower price.

Apart from those of us that used the word mobile?

Also O2 do fixed lines for business customers as well, reselling BT and Virgin Media services.

They'll probably be made to sell Internet and fixed line to talktalk. That's the usual practice isn't it?

BT have purchased a stake in EE. They owned most of O2 years ago but had to sell the firm due to a hole in their pension fund.

Before O2, it used to be called Cellnet.

Before T Mobile, it was called One2One.

Remember One2One????

so maybe they'll call it BTEE
