Window Regulator motor change

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

Octavia TDI,the motor on the drivers door window is done,a few of the pins have gone. If I replace the motor only,do I need to recode it or is it fit and run?

Second question,I'm handy enough with a spanner so I was considering changing the timing belt myself,I have changed timing belts on other cars, namely a Cavalier D,a half hour job, and Renault 11D a lot longer. Is it a simple mark and pray or do I need special tools?Or should I just get a qualified mechanic to do it?

Thanks in advance for any advice and appreciated.

easy job replacing window motor...no coding is necessary

simple and straight

Great, will get at that tomorrow, thank you.

If you get a new motor with control module on it, it will need coding to the car if its secondhand you may get away with out coding it.

Hmm,it's second hand,I'll give it a lash anyway, not really a choice in the matter, disappeared pins. Thanks for the input.

I bought a brand new one which cost me £133 complete with module on it. Fitted it and all that worked was the drivers window. Found out it has to be programmed to the CCM. Now waiting for my nephew to come over with vcds to program it. [emoji30]

I finally bit the bullet and changed the regulator motor from breakers,as mentioned above, only driver window opens, and then only intermittently, others will open with their own switches and central locking does not work, looks like I will need a recoding, part number is the same, well those numbers that I can read are.

I was considering attempting to repair pins on one I removed, time I have plenty of,but looking at the circuit board there doesn't seem to be a way of removing board and pins from the cover without butchering it,or has anyone tried and succeeded at this?

I should have taken advice of friends after I took her swimming last year and offloaded her on someone when I got all the lights on the dash out  ,but I wouldn't like it done to me,so she gets driven until the rust eats her heart out. :S
