TPMS Error?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Whilst driving into the office this morning my Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) flashed up with an error saying to check tyre pressures in all tyres.

When I go into the office all tyres seemed fine. I had this before with only the front left and I put it down to a drop in temperature affecting the pressure as the tyres itself was perfect.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

I reset the TPMS and will monitor it but really just curious.

Cheers

When you say all tyres seemed fine, did you check them with a pressure gauge?

Visual inspection only as I don't carry a pressure gauge (never got round to buying one for the car), however I think it would be very unlucky to have all the tyres loosing pressure at the same time.

Last time it specifically said to check an individual tyre i.e. Front left.

Reset needs to be done after cold pressure checking.

Thanks John, just so as I'm clear I need to re-set the TPMS periodically or after a cold spell?

Ironically it was the warmest it's been in a while today (10.5 degrees) so I'm wondering if this had something to do with it.

Neither.

The procedure is that you check the tyre pressures when the tyres are cold and then you press reset. That should be the end of it.

I reset the TPMS when I had the winter tyres fitted about 6 weeks ago and it's been fine since. It was only this morning it played up, hence my concern.

I'll see what it's like on the way home and get them checked if the error comes back. At the very least it's a excuse to carry a pressure gauge with me.

Its because you've changed to winters - the system thinks all 4 wheels are out of spec for pressure as the circumference will be different.

Just do another reset on the TPMS when you are stationary and then go for a drive so it can learn the new values.
