Fuel tank sender problem.

Featured Replies

My brand new Rapid Sport was booked into my dealer Monday for an inaccurate fuel gauge. It would fluctuate all the time (still does).

When I picked it up Tuesday they told me there VAS came back with no faults found (suprise, suprise ). They said they checked the sender unit for faults separately and was found ok. They reconnected the plug on it and checked again. It was driven 15 miles and it didn't move(BS). They told me to see how it goes.

I drove it away and just down the road the needle moved up and down. I thought I would leave it to see if it would get any better but up to today it isn't.

My question is can this be checked using there VAS machine on its own?

Because I call BS on this one. It's built into the fuel pump assembly and its last known price is £196

Can this sender throw up a fault code also if it's not working correctly ?

Appreciate all your help.

I need to go back and tell them I think they're wrong at this diagnosis.
