55mm Adapter Sleeves

Featured Replies

After a lot of futile googling I'm hoping you guys can help.

Does anybody know where i can get the 50-55mm sleeve adapters? (the kind you get with coil over kits) Here's hoping :)

Sorry no idea, never seen any offered.  A similar idea is occasionally used on bike fork legs when folk are swapping them around.

I'm imagining  it would be just a bit of tube - someone with a lathe could knock you up some.

They come with some coilover kits and just slip onto the bottom of the shock, if somebody had some lying around from an old set of coilovers that would be great :)

As I'd said previously, ive never seen these adaptors but why cant you just buy the right shocks from the get-go? Most manufacturers will supply either a 50mm or 55mm unit for VAG applications - its surely way more preferable. :)

The adapters are due to the hub swop needed for the brake conversion. I've been offered a great deal on hubs, callipers discs etc from a 2014 Leon FR. The adapters would meen I don't need to swop out the shocks/struts.

They look like this by the way :)post-120571-0-34124500-1419245180_thumb.jpg

Or get an engineering firm to bore the hubs out...?

+1 - the way id go tbh. :)

Maybe I looked at the piccie first but it seems to me he's saying the new hubs are bigger, not smaller?!?

Would suggest asking KW TBH. There' probably a specific search that would bring up "oodles" of info....  but it's probably in German!

OTOH, obtain pipe, get it machined to fit....

So you have the smaller damper struts on the Greenline and you already have the Bilstein shocks which are the wrong size for the hub so surely you need the adaptor to make them bigger to fit the new hubs? Or am I just totally confused by this now?!

Nope, you're spot on, have 50mm shocks, had some 55mm adapters promised (long story) DPM have said they will have some more in early next year but thought maybe i could source some through here.
